Rhinoceros Feast (2019)

The performance for two actors and wooden objects.

Everything is important in the game – light, movement, sound, luck, excitement, skill and, of course, the rules. These games are part of a big Rhino celebration. Wooden toys (partly ours, partly ready-made) are like a brief history of toys. There are bowling pins, ducks, elephants, and large devices, such as the wheel of fortune. We are trying to reveal the essence of the so-called playfulness, to show the play possibilities of any object.

The performance has never been played two times in the same way. It was played as an improvisation, as a journey of two characters, as a royal feast with a live violin, as a competition in various games between two performers and spectators. And there are always gifts for spectators in the end.

The objects for the performance consist of found items, objects purchased at flea markets, and gifts.

Some objects were gifted to us by František A. Skála, Vojta Horálek, Robert Smolík, Tomáš Procházka, Maria Komarova, Ondřej Menoušek, Anna Vohralíková, and possibly others.
